Inspiration

While shopping I was given a Topshop lookbook magazine and although it isn't a music magazine I loved the simplistic layout and the aesthetic throughout the whole thing. It has inspired me and helped me come up with ideas for the layout and colours to use in my magazine.

I liked how on the front cover the model was wearing black and white on a white background with natural coloured makeup as it was all very neutral an makes the red writing stand out. I love the simplicity of this cover and although mine will have stories on the front and will have to include a lot more information I would like to take ideas from this.

For my double page spread I want to have a picture on the left page and text on the right just like the now in the Topshop lookbook and I like the style of the article where they state the interview question with the answers underneath and I think this is how I would like my article to be so you can get the artists real words and response instead of it being incorporated into a lot of made up text. However for my picture page I liked the white border around the one in the Topshop magazine, it makes it look very simple and the block colours all work very well together. I also liked the basic fonts used throughout the lookbook and it was definitely a case of less is more however I'm not sure how well it will apply to a music magazine as although music and fashion tie together in some ways, a music and fashion magazine can be very different things.
