Sketches: Front Cover and Contents Page

I have sketched a very rough draft of how I would like my magazine to look. This will make the process easier when it comes to creating my layout on in design as I will already have a sketch of how it should look and where some things should go.

This is my drafts of my front cover and contents page. I have taken some inspiration from the magazines I had analysed and taken on board some of the information I collected in my research and used them in my sketches. I haven't put much detail in however I will add more over time and there are still some decisions I still need to make. My cover will have the magazine title 'zone' in large capitals across the top with a fairly close up shot of the artist with their head slightly covering the title. The name of the artist and some information on what the magazine is about will be covering the artists chest. The artists name will be slightly bigger than the title of the magazine and the description will be in capitals. Below the magazine title the date of the magazine, issue number and price are written in a large enough text to see on the shelf but not big enough that stye stand out at all. On either side of the artist there will be feature stories with the names of the bands they are about in capitals and a small description underneath. There is also the word 'win' in capital letters with what is on offer underneath to grab peoples attention and to make them want to buy the magazine more. As well as a barcode, at the bottom of the page there is a small list of bands that are in the magazine to get their fans interested and to want to buy the magazine. The contents page has the word contents in large letters at the top so you know what you're reading. Under that is the magazine name, the issue number and date. The page itself is split into three columns of articles. There is a picture of the artist from the cover on the bottom of the first column and a landscape picture covering the top of the second two columns. On top of the pictures there is small text in a contrasting colour saying what article that picture is related to and what page to find it on. The contents are split into four sections; features, news, reviews, live and win. This makes it easier to find what you are looking for. The page numbers are bigger than the text and will be in a different colour.
